Will there be scars after the procedure?
After limb lengthening, some scarring may occur, but the size and appearance depend on the technique used:
External Fixators: External devices with pins or screws are used, leaving small marks on the skin at the insertion points. Over time, these scars typically fade.
Intramedullary Nails (Internal): Small incisions are made to insert the nail into the bone. The scars are minimal and less visible than with external fixators.
In both cases, with proper skin care and the use of scar creams or dermatological treatments, the marks can improve over time and become less noticeable.
